Repair and Performance / Junk Sachs

The HR has an old Sachs all stock with a 12mm square bing carb.  I have been working on that thing for 2 days and at first it runs great for a 1/4 mile then it boggs down and just comes to stop with a nice strong idle.... but if I give it throttle it dies.  I have cleaned that carb a bunch of times now, and still now luck.... any suggestions?

HR's, Terrell may need help digging up his sewer main very soon.   he has to replace part of the pipe.  He does so much with cooking for others... so if anyone can help him that would be awesome.   He is going to most likely rent a machine to dig the hole.  If you get a chance please contact him and see what his plans are with this sewer issue... I have not had time to contact him about this... he mentioned it to me a week ago.

Repair and Performance / Light Bulbs

I had purchased a new sealed beam head light and a new tail light bulb for my 81 hobbit... 5 blocks down the road they both blew.... Switche to high beam.... It blew up too.  How do I fix somthing like that?

Caleb had an idea, Since bad luck hit everyone this week and messed up our trip to KC, let's kick bad luck in the tail and get together anyway tomorrow at the shop for a fix-it and grill some food.  11:30ish till when ever.

Repair and Performance / Honda Hobbit Carb Adjustment

Sitting here with Florissant Dan, we just Re-installed his Carb on his Hobbit.   The thing is backfiring a lot and won't start and the plugs end up wet after pedaling a bit.  Any Suggestions?

One of the HR members is putting a new piston on his bike, everything else is original... Does he need to break it in like a person would if they had installed a new kit?

A guy who wants to start riding mopeds just texted me about that cricket moped that's been for sale on craigslist.  I never heard of them before.  Are they junk?  Are parts available?  Please let me know if I should tell him to stay away from it or buy it.   Thanks!!

General Discussion / O'Fallon Holy Roller Member passed away

Wanted to let the IRE know that Oscar who was our oldest member of the O'Fallon Holy Roller Moped group passed away yesterday (Oct 31st) from cancer. (Oscar was the elderly gentleman who came to the Fort last fall wearing bib overalls)  His wife wanted you all to know how much she and the family really appreciated you all welcoming Oscar to the Fort and showing him around your shop last fall during the IRE and HR BBQ.  She said it was one of the highlights of his year to meet you all and see what you were doing with mopeds.

Thank you all for showing him such kindness and reaching out to him and showing him a great day last year!

Bartertown / Puch Clutch Shims

Hi, my friend Larry is at work and does not have access to a computer there so he wanted me to ask you all if anyone has any puch clutch shims they would be willing to sell?   He thinks they need to be .067  (not sure).   

If so, could you let me know and send them with someone who is coming to the Fundraiser BBQ in O'Fallon on Saturday?

Just a reminder that the O'Fallon HR's are having a BBQ fundraiser for Matt this Saturday May 15th!

First Assembly of God O'Fallon
8759 Veterans Memorial Parkway
O'Fallon MO 63366
(Next Door to the O'Fallon Kmart and Shop & Save)    Food will begin cooking at 10AM  and ready to sell from 11-2:30.

General Discussion / BBQ Fundraiser for Matt moved to May 15th!

Because of the storms they are pridicting tomorrow, we ARE moving the BBQ fundraiser for Matt to Saturday May 15th! 

(If somone who has Matts number could please call him and make sure he and his sister know this has been moved to the 15th that would be a huge help!)

The plan is to set everything up by 9:30am
Begin BBQing at 10:AM  Selling food from 11:00-3PM   (from past experience most food sells between 12:45 and 2:00) 
Clean up at 3pm.

If any of the IRE members or other moped groups could come to this event and bring your peds it would help draw attention to this to raise more money for Matt!  (O'Fallon area is a fun place to ride mopeds!) 

Also, sorry that it was so hard nailing down an alternate date!  Special thank you to the IRE members for allowing us to visit you and ride in your ralleys you all are great! 
See you all at the Ralley next weekend and hopefully the BBQ on the 15th!  : )

General Discussion / BBQ Fundraiser for Matt alternate weather date.

The O'Fallon HR Moped group is planning on having the BBQ fundraiser for Matt this Saturday (set up 10AM)  BBQ from 11-3PM. 

BUT it looks like they are predicting bad storms for this Saturday.  So if the weather is bad we will move the BBQ fundraiser to Saturday May 8th (weekend after moped ralley).  (cant sell much bbq in the rain)

The BBQ fundraiser will be held in front of O'Fallon First Assembly of God Church, located at 8759 Veterans Memorial Parkway, O'Fallon MO 63366.  (Next door to the O'Fallon Kmart and Shop & Save).
