General Discussion / DeadPeds Rally
« on: March 18, 2012, 11:01:32 pm »
This was a topic of discussion at our ride (eat-and-try-to-fix-things) tonight. I'm not entirely sure what the plans are, so hopefully that can get hashed out here. For those of you who have actually been involved in planning this, please feel free to enlighten the rest of us.

If Kenden's van and Brett's Jeep (pulling a trailer go), the current cost calculations are as follows:

5 people - $130 per person
6 people - $105 per person
7 people - $90 per person

(Full calcs here, in case people want to double check: //

Local Discussion (KC) / ACR RALLY - October 21-23
« on: September 27, 2011, 10:54:29 pm »
Yep. It's that time of year again. I know most of you CoMo/StL people don't go to this rally as it's quite far away, but holy shit, it's worth it.

So yeah, this is the thread to gauge interest. I'm not promising any rides, although if I do end up promising rides, Chris has already claimed dibs on one spot. I'm not sure who else is going or how many spots they have in their respective vehicles, but knowing how many people want to come is a good thing to start with.

Who is already planning on going, and who might be interested if they could get time off from work/scrape together enough money?

Edit: people who've said they might be going/interested, just to get a count started.

Casual Friday / Hey, interweb guru people
« on: July 22, 2011, 07:58:43 am »
I made this.

I want feedback. Anything broken? Could be written more guru-like? Doesn't display correctly in your browser? I wanna know if it isn't working, but I REALLY wanna know how to fix the things that aren't working. I've exhausted the limits of my knowledge in knowing both what might be wrong and how to fix it, so that's why I'm asking you all.

Things I'm aware of:
1) It used to look like crap when accessed from a phone, I think because I made the box a fixed size rather than a relative size. That pushed the images and a lot of the text outside the intended content area. I googled for a while and found the "overflow" property that is supposed to make it scroll. If I leave this set to "scroll," it works on my phone, but then the scroll bars are visible on my computer, which I don't like (especially since it doesn't need to scroll on my computer screen). I changed it around a few times, and it's on "auto" now. This seems to make it display properly on my phone and it eliminates the unnecessary visible scroll bars on my computer, but I've only tested it on my laptop (Chrome) and my phone (Safari). I could quit being lazy and go test it on other computers, or I can just ask you guys.

2) I'm adding in file size info to each link, and I'm only through the C's right now. The rest will get there eventually.

3) Some of the files are rather large. I'm probably going to chop those down and offer them as multiple parts for anyone who's on a slower connection. Unless anyone has a better idea about making it more accessible to people with slow internetz?

4) Yes, I did steal design ideas from MopedStL. That's called, "It was clean and simple and it worked, and I didn't know enough to come up with my own ideas when I started. By the time I learned enough, I didn't want to change it." Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?

Local Discussion (KC) / Anyone know this guy?

No name, so it's hard to tell, but...

I noticed them editing the wiki, was like, "West Bottoms in KC? Why don't I know who you are?"

Local Discussion (CT) / Moped Sunday -- 5/15

This Sunday, ride/wrench/break down/drink/eat. In KC, meet at Brett's at 4.

Yay fragments.

Casual Friday / MA Bugs
« on: April 24, 2011, 11:45:29 pm »
I suppose not very many of you check MA all that often, but I kinda wanted to start a thread here to see if anyone else was experiencing the same problems that I was. I gotta figure Simon is getting about 1,000,000 e-mails right now from people, and I don't want to add to the general hysteria unless it's absolutely necessary. If I don't see some of this stuff resolved by Tuesday or Wednesday then I'll e-mail him, but it'd be nice to have some extra data all condensed into one e-mail.

1) It says I must be logged in to post. I log in, and it still says I need to be logged in to post, even though it shows that I'm logged in at the top. After hitting "log out," it still shows me as logged in. Clearing cookies and cache will get rid of that, but it still doesn't clear up the original problem of not being recognized as logged in. (Stoops also said he was having this problem).

2) The main page of the wiki now looks somewhat shittier than it previously did. I view that as more of my (everyone's) problem than Simon's, but I'd welcome input on how to make it look less shitty and work better. I'll probably pose that as a question to the greater MA community later this week, but there is an awfully good group of computer/wiki/design nerds here who I'm sure would be full of wonderful suggestions.

Local Discussion (CT) / BBQ/Wrench/Ride this Sunday @ Brett's
« on: April 15, 2011, 04:32:29 pm »
2:00pm at Brett's house (1638 Summit St KCMO) this Sunday. Be there or be square. I'm gonna tell new people to come to this, and it'd be great to see some of you other old people (Leo, Bryan) there too if you can come. Bring food/booze if you want. Come to hang out, wrench, eat, and if your moped works, ride. If your moped doesn't work, Brett said he might have a few stock loaners around.

Lawrence peeps, Daryl already asked for a ride for him and maybe his moped, so I've got one more spot available. First come, first served.

Local Discussion (CT) / Nashville Rally
« on: March 13, 2011, 03:43:08 pm »
Rally is April 1-3. From Lawrence, it's 600 miles (10 hours). I still don't know if I'll be able to go, but just in case I can, I figured I might as well start finding out how many people can come and what vehicles we have at our disposal. Once I know how many people and what vehicles are going, I can figure out gas costs.

Local Discussion (CT) / Motorcycle Show
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:25:06 pm »
There's a vintage motorcycle show at the fairgrounds on Feb. 6th (a Sunday). It might be cool to go, yeah? Or people who have super rad bikes could enter them.

General Discussion / Okay, so who isn't going to Denver?
« on: December 31, 2010, 12:03:20 am »
Let's make a support group. We can all be sad and cry together.

Local Discussion (CT) / Nebraska on Saturday
« on: November 24, 2010, 02:56:50 pm »
So, the Lincoln dudes are doing a ride on Saturday. Who's in? I wanna go, although it would be nice to have one or two people to split the gas costs with.

Local Discussion (CT) / Keep a look out for this scooter
« on: November 12, 2010, 06:04:16 pm »
A friend of one of the guys from my old study abroad group has a scooter, and apparently it got stolen last night. I just thought I'd spread the word and see if you guys could keep a look out for it too.

"Black Genuine Rattler with silver trim. Its a midsized scooter with a bright yellow spring in the back and it only has the left rear view mirror and has Illinois plates."

Local Discussion (CT) / Ride in KC on Friday?
« on: November 01, 2010, 02:27:34 pm »
I guess Brett suggested this to Kevin, who suggested this to me. The idea it to meet at Kevin's at 7pm on Friday, then we can all go cruise down to the First Fridays goings-on, then back to Kevin's for a BBQ. Who all would be down for something like that, and who would be able to transport themselves or other people? I have my van, obviously, but that can only take 3 people/peds.

General Discussion / The official RALLY thread
« on: October 19, 2010, 07:47:46 pm »
If you see/hear of a big ride or rally, or you're planning on hosting one (one that doesn't already have its own post), put it here.

Local Discussion (CT) / Ride tonight, bitches!
« on: October 08, 2010, 02:40:08 pm »
I already texted most of you about this, but it's waaaaay too nice out to not ride today. Beez is off at 6, Daryl's off at 8, Dylan's down to ride, Cody can't, Dustin's working (?), and I haven't heard back from the rest of you, so I'm putting this here. I'm thinking meet downtown at 7 or 8 by the police station/South Park, but that's open to change. If you've got questions or comments, either post here or text me. If/when I finalize a meeting time, I'll let you all know.
